Lisa Harkins

Lisa Harkins earned the internationally recognized City & Guilds Diploma in Research, Design and Embroidery at the Gail Harker Creative Studies Center  in Oak Harbor, Washington.  She was previously awarded City & Guilds Level 3 Certificates in Design and Embroidery, and Patchwork and Quilting.  It was while she was researching the Design Unit for the Diploma course that she discovered her love of papermaking as an art form.  Her most recent art work includes the use of natural fibers to create hand-made paper and books. Design and stitch is used in the construction and decoration of many of her pieces. Lisa lives in Greenbank, Washington and has exhibited her art work at venues in Washington and Oregon. She continues to study papermaking and also teaches and demonstrates.  She has taught Certificate and Diploma students the art of papermaking at the Creative Studies Center and has also assisted with other courses at the Center for a number of years.  Lisa has had a lifetime relationship with fiber and stitch.  It is the same creativity, passion and detail that has led to her  knowledge and experience in papermaking.
