The course will include Basic Design - approximately
15 hours, which will include:
- Color theory (practical studies)
- Exploration of mark making with pencils and paints
- Exploration of line, form, and shape to make pattern,
working from a theme
- Exploration of surfaces on paper using resists,
spraying, bleaching, etc.
- Creating texture and form from paper by folding,
tearing, curling, and manipulation
- A small collection of ideas, pictures, and photographs
relating to current trends in Embroidery
- Records of museum and exhibition information
- Two simple working drawings for embroidered designs
- A cost sheet and brief order of work for items
undertaken
- Evaluations of own techniques and designs
- Samples of texture and line stitches
- Samples of raised and padded techniques - quilting,
trapunto, etc.
- Samples of Appliqué
- Samples of simple Free Machine Embroidery
- Samples of bonding and layering fabrics
The two embroidered items will be inspired
from the Core Unit in Design and the Samples. The items will use innovative
and traditional techniques.
